Medicine Cards: The Discovery of Power through the Ways of the Animals by Jamie Sams and David Carson
Toward the end of each calendar year, I like to pull 12 cards for the new year, one for every month. This year, this month actually, I managed to lose my Tarot cards. Cannot find them anywhere since my last trip to the beach… And the other two decks I had (Osho and Angel cards) have been dispersed by me (I gave some to friends as gifts, others to people as business cards) and by my lovely, curious daughter.
Left with no complete deck of my own at the moment, I borrowed my friend’s wonderful spirit animal cards and drew the following dozen:
January ~ Rabbit: Fear
“Write your fears down and be willing to feel them. Breathe into them and feel them running through your body into Mother Earth.”
February ~ Bear: Introspection
Enter the Dream Lodge, the space of inner knowing and silence.
March ~ Snake: Transmutation
“This medicine teaches on a personal level that you are a universal being.”
April ~ Hummingbird: Joy
Love with an open heart.
May ~ Dog: Loyalty
Have I been loyal and true to my goals?
June ~ Lynx: Secrets
Look for omens. Be honest.
July ~ Buffalo: Prayer & Abundance
Be humble and ask Spirit for help. Be grateful for all that is received.
August ~ Owl: Deception
“Pay attention. The truth always brings further enlightenment.”
September ~ Ant: Patience
Trust… good things are coming from your devoted efforts.
October ~ Mountain Lion: Leadership
Cultivate the ability to lead without insisting that others follow.
November ~ Spider: Weaving
“The most important message from Spider is that you are an infinite being who will continue to weave the patterns of life and living throughout time. Do not fail to see the expansiveness of the eternal plan.”
December ~ Porcupine: Innocence
Open your heart to things that gave you joy as a child. Honor the playfulness of spirit…
